Story Of Computer Studies Till The Invention Of Quantum Microprocessors

In the first decades of the 20th century, the investigation of the atoms leaded to the discovery of a world in which each atom occupies not a particular position, but a space with indeterminate borders. Soon the first computers were invented: gigantic devices with mediocre capability but unimaginably potential. The technologies based on semiconductors initiated the contest in the direction of smallness that in its turn led to higher and higher yields.
Anyway sooner or later even these techniques would become insufficient. Thus scientists started studying new options, designing the stages to bring them to production. They conceived optical, atomic and superconducting computers, even working at temperatures close to absolute zero.
Most of all they were conscious that a few years later, as soon as the dimensions of the components reached the atom scale, or maybe earlier as a result of increasing prices, the competition for miniaturization would stop.
At the moment numerous processors were already connected in parallel to boost computations. This structure is used for the most sophisticated computers, though it is restricted by integration, size and costs.
Towards the end of the second millenium , the researchers identified a radical technique of performing calculations. It focuses on the string of bits – the series of zero and one codifing the digital data.
Till that point computer models described the behavior of digits formed by lots of atoms, ending up with effects in agreement with the common sense. It is a world of certainties, where the location of an atom is completely known, where a digit can have zero or 1 value. All characteristics which are applied in the existing computers, in which the string is altered little by little up to the definitive solution.
Once the scientists began utilizing quantum mechanics for a bit composed merely by one or some particles, they went into an ambiguous world, in which the digit itself can get at the same time both 0 and 1 values. But what really interested them was the string, because it could get all the potential combinations of zero and 1 at the same time, able to comprise the definitive result from the very start.
They’d devised a quantum computer. A machine able to find out the solution not operating on a string at a time as its forerunners, but on all its mixtures simultaneously. A computer having a parallelism next to to infinity.
