Living in Westwood, NJ
There are a great many wonderful communities scattered across the length and breadth of the United States of America, but it is hard to find one as well grounded in the middle class American Dream of our imagination as Westwood, NJ. A small borough of just a little more than eleven thousand residents, Westwood, NJ encapsulates all that we think of when we imagine something close to a utopian American city.
Since it is one of those areas that have found a nice balance between the need for growth and the essentials of balanced lifestyle, Westwood seems more like a thing of myth than a real town. After all, in modern America we just don’t see high percentages of home ownership, education, and salary earnings the likes of the borough’s. Well, maybe in Hollywood and similar areas, but not in traditional suburbia.
And suburbia is the only fitting description for Westwood, NJ. Filled with college educated workers – a third of which hold bachelor’s and graduate school degrees and fill management level jobs with management level salaries, this borough stands out like the statistical and proverbial sore thumb when contrasted against other areas of its size across the country.
With a rich history, and a contemporary lifestyle, Westwood, NJ is the perfect fusion of old world sensibilities and new world progress. Its residents travel, on average, less than a half hour to work each day, and upon returning home come back to the beauty and security of their suburban lives. It is little wonder that more and more people are discovering this hidden Jersey gem.
For anyone thinking about moving into the Westwood, NJ area, considering the job prospects and the price of housing is an advisable first course of action. It is a solidly middle class area, with home prices upwards of a quarter-million dollars. For those who can afford it, the borough is reputed to be one of the best places to live and raise a family.
